The Difference Between Facial Products and Body Products
The difference between facial products and body products, and why you shouldn’t use one on the other. Your face has more sensitive skin. It’s thinner and has more oil glands, so it tends to be oilier. It also has a very delicate pH balance that needs to be maintained. Whereas your body has fewer oil glands, so it can tend to be a little bit drier. The body also has thicker skin. So, when we want to replenish the moisture on our body, we want a thicker emollient. Whereas if you put that emollient on your face, it can cause acne. It can clog your pores. It can cause little milia. It can introduce the wrong bacteria by throwing off your pH balance. It’s really important to check which products you’re buying. Are they for your face or for your body? You don’t want to put body products like a body wash or a body moisturizer onto the face because then you’re going to have those consequences, and vice versa. If you put a face moisturizer on the body, it’s probably not going to do enough. Also, body products often contain exfoliants and fragrances that could cause significant irritation on the face. PSA, check out your products. Make sure they say face or body. Schedule a consult with our skincare professionals to find out which products are best for your skin.
